RARE 1876 Centennial George Washington Copeland Cup and Saucer MINT!

How wonderful to find a 145 year old cup and saucer from this country's 100
th
Anniversary! And this example is by the renowned English company of W. T. Copeland, likely made for the 1876 Philadelphia Exhibition.
The cup, about 2 9/16” high and 3” across, shows George Washington on the front, flanked by the U.S. Flag on either side and an Eagle overhead.
On the back is written “A Memorial of THE CENTENNIAL 1876”.
The mark on the bottom reads “MANUFACTURED BY W.T. COPELAND & SONS SOLEY FOR J.M. SHAW & CO., NEW YORK”.
The saucer is 5 3/8” across. It says “INDEPENDENCE” with a shield under that with “1776” on it, sounded by a laurel wreath and flanked by four U.S. Flags. The same marking is on the base of the cup.
Both pieces are in wonderful condition with no chips or cracks and only minimal wear to the decals and finish. Even the gold trim shows almost no wear. This is early china, so there are a few dimples that were in the making. It's a wonderful, early set commemorating our wonderful country and so hard to find in this condition.
