    Description

TREASURES OF ART, INDUSTRY AND MANUFACTURE Represented In The AMERICAN CENTENNIAL EXHIBITION At Philadelphia 1876 edited by C.B. Norton was published 1877 by Cosack & Co. at Buffalo NY. The book is bound in 3/4 leather, measures 19 1/2" x 14 1/4" with 210 pages, engraved title page, raised spine bands, gilt titling and all page edges gilt. It contains 50 plates by Cosack & Co., including many chromolithographs, representing the exhibitions including art, design, furniture, machinery, landscape architecture, sculpture etc. from the United States and many other countries. Each plate has supporting text in English and French.
The leather is rubbed and scraped at its extremities; the cloth is rubbed and has short splits; a name is pencilled on the front endpaper; a few pages have faint shallow dampstaining at the top edge; there is foxing at the hinges between the endpapers and light random interior foxing. A few plates have light soiling at the page edges. The book is solid and otherwise clean in VG condition; the plates are in VG+ to Near Fine condition.
A very rare publication with beautiful chromolithographs for the collector of Americana, art, technology, exhibitions etc.
    Thank you.
